The Choptank River Yacht Club in Denton donated $10,000 to the Caroline Hospice Foundation after the club raised the money during its August Heels for Caroline Hospice event.

The event featured the Missed Choptank Contest drag show with 10 contestants vying for the Missed Choptank crown. Proceeds from the event benefitted Caroline Hospice Foundation.

Yacht club member George Bacorn said the event had a great turnout from the community.

“It is tremendous that everyone sees the good work that Caroline Hospice does for the community,” Bacorn said. “It can’t be that way without the support of the community. The yacht club is a good entertainment venue and gives back to folks that need help.”

“The mission of The Caroline Hospice Foundation would not be possible without the support of the community and organizations like The Choptank River Yacht Club,” said Caroline Hospice Human Resources Manager Brandy Cathcart. “We are so grateful for the support that was shown at The Heels for Hospice Event this past August.”

“Hospice affects everyone, and we want to do our part to give back to Caroline Hospice,” said Choptank River Yacht Club member David Wood. “They do great work for so many people. This is a way we can raise money and support them for all they do for us and Caroline County families.”

Guests at the show enjoyed a pit beef dinner along with drinks. The show featured 10 contestants competing the for Missed Choptank crown by showing off their talents to the audience. Each contestant was named after a local river or creek.
